skype_on_iphoneFree Skype for iphone is available here.

Skype is software that allows users to make telephone calls over the Internet. Calls to other users of the service and to free-of-charge numbers are free, while calls to other landlines and mobile phones can be made for a fee. Additional features include instant messaging, file transfer and video conferencing. (Wikipedia)

You will be suprised that the calls have better sound than normal phone calls, and the calls are free. To get the free calls, both you and your calling partner have to be running Skype. The Skype program has to be open and running to accept incoming calls. Skype for iPhone app works great. It’s simple and easy to use the chat and audio calls. Sound quality is excellent.
